Ireland have done great when it comes to white-ball cricket as of late and a lot of credit goes to the young and emerging stars from the nation. Stars such as Harry Brook, Gareth Delany, and Joshua Little have taken the ball in their court and smashed it out of the park with their performances and that has been one of the key reasons for some of the Irish names earning franchise cricket recognition.

23-year-old Irish pacer Joshua Little has become one of the spearheads of the team’s bowling unit picking up 62 wickets in his 53 outings for the country in the shortest format of the game. The bowler is currently plying his trade for the Pretoria Capitals and has picked 2 wickets in his 2 outings for the side.

Ireland’s skipper in his recent press conference talked about the team’s upcoming tours of Sri Lanka and Bangladesh and updated the status of players available for the games, one name that was bound to miss out from the team sheet was Joshua Little, as the player has been picked by the Multan Sultans in the PSL followed by his debut in the IPL as he is set to represent the Gujarat Titans.

Joshua Little To Skip Ireland Commitments

“Josh had an amazing 12 to 18 months and that is shown by getting picked up in the South African League in the IPL and the PSL and these opportunities are incredible. We are going to miss him (Joshua Little). He is not going to come here and play in the Bangladesh tour and he is not going to Sri Lanka for the Test tour and he will be back for Super League games against Bangladesh in May.”

“His opportunity to play in the IPL is really too good for him to turn down and it only helps Irish cricket I think that exposure. If he has a good IPL or PSL then those competitions will say well Ireland cricket must be going in the right direction. We wish him all the best and I watched him last night.”
