Add this Oat Milk Latte to your must-try list! Oat milk is ideal for coffee drinks: it steams and froths like a charm.

Oat Milk Latte

There’s one non-dairy milk that outshines them all when it comes to coffee drinks: oat milk! This tasty alternative milk is extra creamy, has a mild, sweet flavor, and steams up like a charm. So it’s absolutely natural it shines in this Oat Milk Latte! You’ll be amazed by how frothy and creamy oat milk can be. Mix it with espresso, and it’s just as satisfying as a classic latte (we think).

What’s in an oat milk latte?

The oat milk latte is a coffee drink made with espresso and oat milk, instead of whole milk like a classic latte. Oat milk is widely known as the best dairy-free milk for coffee. Its flavor and texture are the best at mimicking dairy milk, and it becomes thick and foamy when frothed or steamed. All you need for an oat milk latte is:

  • Espresso
  • Oat milk (regular)

Our favorite brand of oat milk is Planet Oat, but there are lots of other brands that are easy to find at your local grocery these days! Let us know what brands you find are best for coffee in the comments below.

How to froth or steam oat milk

You can use an espresso machine to steam oat milk, or if you don’t have an espresso machine you can froth it! Either way, it is the closest non-dairy milk to dairy milk. It can become very frothy and thick using either method. This makes it our favorite to use for non-dairy lattes! Here are the various methods:

  • Steam the oat milk (espresso machine): This achieves a latte texture similar to a coffeeshop, with a thick, microfoam-like layer on top. Go to How to Steam Milk.
  • Froth the oat milk (without a machine): There are several ways to froth oat milk. The best method is a hand frother, but you can also use a French press or whisk. Go to How to Froth Milk.

And that’s it! Pour the frothed milk into the dark, bitter espresso and take a sip. You’ll be blown away by the creaminess of the oat milk! Let us know what you think in the comments below.
