Why make this strawberry daiquiri recipe?

This strawberry daiquiri recipe has pure berry flavor. One taste, and you’ll be singing its praises! It’s just sweet enough, with just the right back-end flavor of rum. If ever there was a perfect drink for sipping on the patio, this is it. Here’s what makes it special:

  • The flavor is pure, using real berries! Who knows what’s in those store-bought daiquiri mixes. This daiquiri is made of real frozen berries and lime, giving it a lush flavor!
  • It’s perfectly sweetened. Some strawberry daiquiris are overly sweet, but not this one. It’s sweetened just enough so you can enjoy the pure berry flavor without a stomach ache afterwards. If you like natural sweeteners, you can use pure maple syrup. It gently sweetens the mixture without making it taste like maple, and it adds an additional flavor nuance.

How to make a strawberry daiquiri

This strawberry daiquiri had its first trial run one evening when our nephews visited for an epic cousin sleepover. We had ice cream, homemade pizza (with easy pizza sauce and best pizza dough), and movie night with popcorn. By the end of the night, the adults were exhausted! So once all the littles were in bed, we pulled out the blender to make homemade daiquiris. Man, were they good! Literally the perfect recipe for tired parents reclaiming the evening. Here’s how to make the best strawberry daiquiri recipe:

  1. Blend it up: Blend 1 pound frozen strawberries, ¼ cup lime juice, 6 tablespoons simple syrup, 1 cup white rum, 1 cup ice, and ⅛ teaspoon salt in a blender until smooth. The salt intensifies and rounds out the flavors!
  2. Serve: Pour into a glass and serve garnished with a lime slice and frozen strawberry! You can use any type of glass, from a margarita glass to a simple cocktail glass.

Tips for making a frozen strawberry daiquiri

A few things to keep in mind when you’re making this strawberry daiquiri recipe:

  • Use good quality rum. The better the quality of rum, the tastier the drink. Look for a bottle in the mid-price range.
  • Use best quality frozen strawberries. We tried this with a few different types of frozen berries: it was much better with the best quality brand.
  • Freeze or chill your rum (optional). When we made this strawberry daiquiri recipe for the photographs here, we chilled our rum in a cocktail shaker to get it really cold. You also can throw the rum in the freezer the night before to keep the drink very cold.

That’s it! Let us know if you try out this strawberry daiquiri recipe: and if it helps for exhausted parent evenings like ours! Or a bridal shower, girl’s night, cookout, pool party, or…really anytime!

Did you know a classic daiquiri isn’t frozen?

The strawberry daiquiri and frozen lime daiquiri are variations on the Classic Daiquiri, which is not frozen at all! It’s one the most classic sour cocktails there is, invented in the early 1900’s. It’s made simply with rum, lime and sugar and served up in a cocktail glass.

The frozen daiquiris that are popular today came along later as variations on the theme. Make sure to try our Classic Daiquiri: it’s easy to make and perfectly balanced. Another spin? The sophisticated Hemingway Daiquiri, which features grapefruit juice and Maraschino liqueur.

  1. This was ABSOLUTELY delicious! I will definitely be making again. Doing the little extra step of having the lime topper is SO worth it. Thanks for another great recipe!

  2. Looks yummy!! Any suggestions for sweetener since I don’t have maple syrup on hand and we’re in Corona lockdown? Should honey work?

    1. That was a typo — thank you! We’ve removed it (we adjusted this recipe to remove the lime daiquiri layer for simplicity!)

    2. Why did it come out bitter? Followed recipe very closely! ? Ended up with 2 approx. 12 ounce glasses.

  3. Sounds like us with my siblings growing up. My mom always made the non- alcohol drink for us. It was so much fun! It tastes so good…we couldn’t wait every weekend to see if mom were going to surprise and make us this! The first time I tried it I had a strawberry phenomenon… I didn’t know strawberries could ever taste that good ! I will never settle for a plain strawberry again! lol I was like this is the best fruits for desserts! Cakes idk about pies?😊😉

  4. Can the strawberry daiquiri be bottled and frozen?
    Loved your recipe
    Thank you
    Maria xx

  5. Excellent recipe. For a healthier version, I used half honey and half maple syrup instead of the simple syrup. The fresh Florida strawberries made it super yummy! Thanks for a great recipe!
