The other day Alex and I had some neighbors over for drinks on the patio. In the midst of the conversation, one of them confessed: “I have an unhealthy obsession with ranch dip.” It led to an entire conversation about the stuff, but truly: ranch dip has a pretty widespread appeal. The conversation go us to thinking: could one have a healthy obsession with ranch dip? Meet this Greek yogurt dip, a chip dip that’s full of flavor and pretty darn good for you, too.

Ingredients in Greek yogurt dip

If you’re anything like me, you grew up eating that ranch dip that was made of a packet of ranch seasonings (and lots of other preservatives, no doubt) mixed into sour cream. What if ranch dip could be made with real food ingredients and spices from the pantry? Like as a Greek yogurt dip, with everyday spices?

It got Alex and my wheels turning, and we created this ranch Greek yogurt dip recipe. It’s made with Greek yogurt and spices you’ll likely have in your spice cabinet: no random preservatives here! Here are the ingredients you’ll need:

  • Shallot
  • Greek yogurt: whole milk yogurt preferred, for its smooth texture and rich flavor
  • Garlic powder
  • Dried dill
  • Salt and pepper

What to dip into it!

We served this Greek yogurt dip as a healthy game day snack, but you could also use it as part of a healthy lunch. The flavor is fresh and delicious, like a heightened version of the traditional processed stuff! What to dip into it? Here are our favorite things to serve with this ranch dip:

  1. Just bought a large container of plain greek yogurt today, so am really glad to see this! I’ve been eating it straight up with pretzels, maybe a drizzle of honey now and again, and it is so good. A great alternative to sour cream for any sour cream junkies out there (myself included!).
